A colleague of mine asked if i could make a handy screen capture tool available to our users. I said ‘Sure – piece of cake!’. Well it was for the most part, aside from the installer loading the website post install.

My problem was I did not want to always “Run As…” all my important admin programs and mmc snap-ins all day because i didnt log on as an admin. It simply took up alot of my time and it frustrated me. What i really needed was a way to automatically (and securely) load all my administrative programs without having to enter any user names or passwords. Well i have a solution for anyone that had the same pain as i did.
The solution started off with the Free Elevation PowerToy found here where i used the elevation files in their original way, however i altered the original registry keys that go in the context menus along with the elevate.vbs to cater for certain anomalies.

Have you ever had to look at alot of little log files and want to quickly glance at them? Well the easiest way to do this would be to use the Preview Pane in Windows 7 Explorer window.
To enable this you need to add the following registry key:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
Save the above text in a text file and rename the extension to .reg. Then simply double click on it to apply it.
The result should look similar to this:
It can be applied to other extensions if need be. Just make the approprite changes to key above.
